So, did I miss something? Is there a way to ensure that setting up AllShare Play on my PC doesn't completely open my filesystem up to anyone who wants a peek? All without using any Windows credentials! Now I know you have to approve registered systems but this makes me much less likely to just approve, for instance, my visiting sister-in-law's phone for sharing pictures, if it means giving her free reign to traipse about my computer's entire filesystem pulling up any pictures, videos and mp3's she finds, including any of my private voice mails that come in from Ooma. Yes, you can list specific directories under "Set the folders to be shared with registered devices" but that doesn't seem to stop anyone on a registered device from navigating all the way up to C:\ on my PC! There doesn't seem to be any method on the system to limit the files and directories actually shared from the PC. It's just a matter of visiting the Files section and navigating the tree. It's cute that I can send video, pictures, and music back and forth between both.īut I noticed that with the PC version of AllShare, if I have it running, any registered system can view play any video, picture or music on my system. I was playing around with Samsung's AllShare Play on both my new Samsung Galaxy S3 and my PC.
